ONE OF CUBA’S MOST IMPORTANT SCULPTURES

Eliseo Valdés is a painter and sculpture born in El Cerro in Habana, Cuba. He earned his degrees from the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes “San Alejandro” and Higher Institute of Art. He has been bestowed with numerous national and international awards and decorations including the Distinción por la Cultura Cubana (Award for Cuban Culture). Valdes also maintains membership within UNEAC as well as the Commission for Sculptural Development.

Riding in a classic car through the streets of Havana is a part of the dynamic in Cuba, tourism and everyday Cubans experience this. However, the stories under the hood of the car; where half the engine is composed of 5 different vehicles, and rubber bands with springs the size of a pinky, are things only captured from being present.
